  6. Cross Platform provides information about how the programs and files on a Macintosh can be used with Windows-based computers. It also functions as an excellent disk-cataloguing tool. There are three main types of user who will need it :

  8. Ñ Users needing to share files with Windows-based computers.
  9. Ñ Macintosh users needing to work on Windows computers.
  10. Ñ Users wishing to catalogue and analyse the files on their computer.

  14. Ñ An Apple Macintosh, Power Macintosh, Performa, PowerBook or other MacOS-compatible.
  15. Ñ System 7 or later.

  17. Quick Start
  18. Computer experts should read this section to get going quickly with Cross Platform.
  19. Ñ Run Cross Platform, and choose New╔ from the console.
  20. Ñ Select the folders containing your files and programs. More can be added by dropping them into the Item List.
  21. Ñ You may also drag a folder or disk onto Cross Platform in the Finder to analyse the files in the folder.

  23. Getting Help

There are two sources of help within Cross Platform. Firstly, there is the ActiveHelp toolbar at the top of the screen, which describes the purpose and function of the current mouse location. Secondly, there is the Help window, which can be viewed by clicking the toolbar. Some of that information is duplicated there.

  29. Cross Platform is freely distributed as trial software. You are permitted to evaluate it for 14 days before discarding it, or purchasing a Personal or Network license.

  33. Ñ Saving of indexes, reports, and the summary.
  34. Ñ Printing of reports and the summary.
  35. Ñ Exporting of reports and the summary to a text file.
  36. Ñ Customization of reports (extremely flexible).
  37. Ñ Ability to access disks across a network, allowing files on other computers to be analysed (Network License only).

You must purchase one license for each computer on which Cross Platform is used. Licenses can be purchased with the enclosed Register Cross Platform program, using a page on the World Wide Web, or via telephone. Payment may be made by cash, cheque, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or First Virtual.

Current pricing is $25 for a Personal License, $50 for a Network License, and $35 for a Personal License bundled with NameCleaner. There is excellent discount pricing available for multiple-license purchases of these packages; the Register Cross Platform application includes pricing for up to 20 licenses - for higher-volume pricing, please contact us at pricing@sigsoftware.com.

  47. Purchasing a registration on the World Wide Web

  49. Ñ Click on Purchase via Web in the About Cross Platform dialog box or go to http://order.kagi.com/?BX
  50. Ñ Wait for the Web browser to load up the page.
  51. Ñ Enter name, address and eMail details (required) into the fields provided.
  52. Ñ Select the type of Cross Platform license you wish to purchase.
  53. Ñ If you require more than one license of Cross Platform, specify in the area provided.
  54. Ñ Follow the rest of the instructions on the Web page.

  56. Purchasing a registration using the register program

  58. Ñ Click on Purchase via Software in the about dialog box or run the enclosed Register Cross Platform application.
  59. Ñ Enter name, address and eMail details (required) into the fields provided.
  60. Ñ Specify how many licenses of which type are required.
  61. Ñ Enter payment details in the area provided.
  62. Ñ Save, copy or print out the information, and forward to Kagi (as detailed below) for processing.

  79. Ñ Telephone orders have a handling charge of $5.

  81. Delays and Problems

Registrations may take up to a week to process, once they have been received by Kagi. Once payment has been processed, the license codes will be sent via eMail; multiple licenses will be indicated. If you have heard nothing within two weeks of ordering, or if there are any other problems, please contact support@sigsoftware.com. Thank you.
